Gerta has always wanted a child. After seeking the help of a strange old woman she is amazed to see a tiny girl emerge from the petals of a magical flower. She adopts the tiny girl and names her Thumbelina. The girl's tiny size puts her in harms way and soon she is lost in the forest.
